【Papa, please get the moon for me】

Before Monica went to bed 
she looked out of her window and saw the moon. 
在莫妮卡上床睡觉前，她向窗外望去，看到了月亮。

The moon looked so near 
"I wish I could play with the moon" 
thought Monica, and reached for it.
月亮看起来很近，“我希望我能和月亮玩”，莫妮卡想着，然后伸手去拿它。

But no mater how much she stretched, 
she could not touch the moon. 
但不管她有多伸手，她都无法摸到月亮。

"Papa," 
said Monica to her father, 
"Please get the moon for me." 
“爸爸，”莫尼卡对她父亲说，“请帮我摘下月亮。”

Papa get a very long ladder,
he carried the very ladder towards a very high mountain. 
爸爸拿了一个很长的梯子，他把梯子搬到了很高的山上。

Then Papa put the very long ladder on top of the very high mountain. 
然后爸爸把很长的梯子放在高高的山顶上。

Up and up and up he climbed.
他爬啊爬啊，往上爬楼梯。

Finally,  papa got to the moon. 
最后，爸爸到达了月球。

"My daughter Monica would like to play with you" said papa,
"but you are much too big. " 
“我的女儿莫妮卡想和你一起玩，”爸爸说，“但是你太大了。”

"Every night I get a little smaller,"  said the moon. 
“每天晚上我都会变小一点，”月亮说。

"When I am just the right size you can take me with you." 
“当我的尺寸合适时，你可以带我去。”

And, indeed, the moon get smaller and smaller and smaller.
而且，确实，月亮变得越来越小，越来越小。

When the moon was just the right size,  papa took it.
当月亮大小合适的时候，爸爸就把它拿走了。

Down and down and down he climbed.
他爬啊爬啊，往下爬楼梯。

"Here,"  said papa to Monica, 
"I have the moon for you." 
“在这儿，”爸爸对莫尼卡说，“我把月亮给你。”

Monica jumped and danced with the moon. 
莫妮卡跳起舞来，伴着月亮起舞。

She hugged the moon and threw it into the air. 
她拥抱了月亮，把它抛向空中。

But the moon kept getting smaller 
and smaller and smaller, 
但是月亮越来越小，越来越小，

and finally it disappeared altogether. 
最后它完全消失了。

Then, on night, 
Monica saw a thin sliver of  the moon reappear. 
然后，在夜晚，莫妮卡看到一根细薄的月亮再次出现。

Each night the moon grew… 
and grew and grew.
每天晚上月亮都在成长，成长和成长。
